Hot Days Are Coming – Don’t Leave Your Dog in the Car

National

PETA Germany warns everyone not to leave their pets in hot cars. During these days, temperature is between 25 and 30 Celsius in Hungary. On a hot summer (or spring) day, a few minutes in the sun is enough to raise the temperature in the car to about 70 Celsius. Every year, a number of dogs suffer or die because their owners leave them in their parked cars in the sun. PETA Germany warns everyone to be cautious and not to leave their pets in the car on a hot sunny day. In case you see a dog trapped in a hot parked car, try to notify others. Go into the nearest building and find a manager. Remember: It only takes minutes for a dog to suffer brain damage when the weather is hot.

If you see a dog left alone in a hot car, take down the car’s color, model, make, and license plate number. Have the owner paged in the nearest buildings, or call local humane authorities or police. Have someone keep an eye on the dog. Don’t leave the scene until the situation has been resolved.
