Europe’s Amazonas is in Hungary

They call it Europe’s Amazonas. The biosphere reserve in the Mura-Drava-Danube region is the first so-called second-generation biosphere reserve of our country.The approximately 631 acres land is one of the largest, untouched natural areas in the Danube Basin. It ensures the protection of the wildlife of our great rivers and their fantastic biodiversity.

In addition to preserving and protecting natural values, specialists place great emphasis on creating the conditions for sustainable development and improving the living conditions of the the people living here.

This section of the Mura, Drava and Danube rivers is one of the less regulated river sections in Hungary, hence the special “Europe’s Amazonas” name.
