Fireflies in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Global

Great Smoky Mountains National Park (USA) is the home of 19 types of fireflies, including Photinus Carolinus – also known as the synchro-firefly – which is the only American species that aligns its flashing lights.

Between mid-May and mid-June, as part of the swarming season, a magical light show is given to the visitors to the national park.
